You will probably get a lot more answers/advice to this question if you post it in the "general discussion" forum. That said, are you trying to re-number a locomotive for a popular prototype, or unpopular/freelance?
If it is for a popular road, Microscale does many different prototype decal sets, and for many of these there is a set for some flavor of diesel. Their website is http://www.microscale.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc
I don't find this website as friendly as I remember it, but if you click on "new releases" there is a box to enter your road name at the top.
Another company is Hearld King. Their website is http://www.heraldkingdecals.com/
They were out of business for quite awhile, but the website appears to be new, so maybe they were finally purchased by someone.
Thanks for the reply. I have searched through mt LHS for matching decals with no luck. The stores are carrying less and less inventory because people are doing less and less kitbashing or scratch building. As my local dealer says...why spend hours on a car or engine when you can get it RTR and just run it....but that's a whole nother discussion.
Do you remember which set you used to re-number the engines ??? The hard part is finding number board sets......

Hi!
I have only renumbered some HO ATSF locos, and the LHS had several number/letter sets to choose from. Actually, most every train hobby shop I have been to has a large supply of Microscale or other brand decals. What you might want to do is bring a loco or two with you so as to assure you get something that is similar to what you have.

I have quite a few Alas engines ( GP-38's and 40's) that I would like to re-number. Can anyone recommend a decal set for the number boards and or sides.
Thanks.....JZ in CT
