 Don't know right now what decoder. You did not say if you want sound.

Be advised, the MDC Shay can be a real bear to build and get it to run properly according to different post I have read in forums. Below are some links to the issue. Someone has wriiten a book for this issue but it is a little pricey. I believe some of the items for upgrade are available from NWSL.

DCC for a Roundhouse Shay

Any advice on how to install a decoder in a two truck Roundhose Shay, (HO scale Kit # 360)?  I am about to prepare the kit for assembly, it has been in the box for the last 15 years.
