i have a sneekin suspicion that you are dealing with a bad decoder. if the sound module has not fried yet, you can inspect the wires where they attach to the decoder. make sure that you dont have any strands that have wandered off to touch places they ought not. Yup, you probably guessed it, this is the voice of experiance. i love my intermountains, strong, quiet and always make a great photo! Good luck, you might just be able to return it, if not, keep me in the loop, we will get her going!

Intermountain FP7 Sound
Posted by blabride on Sunday, December 21, 2008 5:54 PM

I bought my second Intermountain HO FP7 last night. I tested it tonight on DC as I don't have a DCC set up yet since I am just getting back into trains. On my MRC pack all I get at half throttle is loud white noise although it does move. I don't think this is supposed to be turbine powered. Before I take it back in the AM I thought I would ask you guys who have a lot more knowledge on these sound systems if maybe it is set in some wrong setting. I tried to use the wand and put it in reset like the instructions said but it did the same thing and would not reset. My other FP7 works great, at half throttle with my MRC power pack the engine sounds start up and all is well.

Thanks

SB
