If the shipping container is closed up with you inside, isnt that a faraday cage where nothing emitted into the box and nothing emitted out?

I never thought about this particular situation until this thread was posted. At first I smiled, then frowned when I consider the implications if the spouse is in need of one.

A Hoverround would be able to rotate in place a full circle. What does that do to your availible space inside that container? If memory serves a pallet 48 inches times two makes 96 inches and you probably had about another 6 inches, but absolutely no more than that wide.

I believe the NCE Radio system uses a very narrow band of frequencies allocated by the FCC for remote control devices that is in the 900 MHz range, the same as a cell phone.  If cell phones don't interfere with the electric wheelchair the NCE shouldn't.

OCM,

It might want to try contacting Larry Larsen @ NCE and ask him if he knows of any interference issues like the one you're asking.  You also might need to make a call into Hoveround for some specifics.

NCE DCC Radio Interference With Hoveround FWD Electric Wheelchair
Posted by Old Cat Man on Friday, December 12, 2008 6:05 PM

Perhaps this has been addressed before but I could not find anything on it.

I use a Hoveround FWD electric wheelchair and plan to build a layout in a 40 foot cargo container. I'm wondering if anyone has experience with radio interference. A corded system would present a problem due to running over the cord.

Anyone in the Pudget Sound area with an NCE cordless DCC system? I could test my chair to see what happens.

Thanks in Advance,

Old Cat Man

Even if you are on the right track, you will get run over if you just sit there.
