I know this is an older post. But does this work on newer Loksound 5 ?
Another way to do it is to set CV2 142 and 145 = 4, and 190 and 193 = 64. With these changes, the sound does not start up until you turn on your loco's headlights. The latter two CV settings allow F8 to mute the sound. I use this setting to temporarily "kill" the sound, and have adopted the practice of turning off the headlights before I either dispatch the loco back to the "stack" or before shutting the layout off.
O.K,
I got it now, but my question regarding those interruptions in which the LokSound equipped locomotive loses power for a 1 or 2 seconds and then continues on its run?

Right? ( Yes, I'm slower than molasses running up a hill)
Antonio,
Given that you have performed the CV changes, as outlined by Simon above:
This is how it worked for me when I tried it a couple of nights ago. If you want to reactivate the sound again, you will need to press F8.
Antonio, I would write down the defaults of the CVs BEFORE changing anything - just in case you decide you don't like the new feature.

I use the setting of 7 in CV 124 for stall recovery. If an engine loses power for just a second it will pick up where it left off, sound, motor and all. However, I don't know if the above tinkering with the CV's will change that ability.
For what it's worth, the default for CV 124 is 15.

Guys, to make sure I understand what you're posted:
Currently when my LokSound equipped SD45-2 loses power for a second or two after hitting a dead spot on the rails, it goes through the startup sequence once power returns.
With the programming method you're describing above, if my unit loses power due to a track glitch, the sound will cut off but pick right up where it left off on the sound scheme when power returns to the unit.
I am glad this has been of help. My 2 boys in particular were getting fed up of shutting down the sound on the consist everytime they made a mistake and ran a switch causing a momentary short. The Loksound F3's would fire up every time!! A particulary annoying default setting.

Hi Simon,
I have a Stewart Baldwin, that I added locsound to, (V3) and was having the same problem, used those CV changes and it worked perfectly.
Thank you, Dennis.
Simon,
I made the changes before going to bed last night and, as you put it, it worked like a charm. Turned out that the first four and last two CVs were the only ones that needed changing. CV 148 and 151 were already set to 0.
Here's the [defaults] that I found on my PCM F3:
130=0 [4]
133=0 [4]
136=0 [4]
139=0 [4]
148=0 [0]
151=0 [0]
190=4 [064]
193=4 [064]
I also discovered that if you leave the sound on when you shut your system down, it will come back on briefly at startup then immediately shut off. (Just like if you hit F8). If you shut down your system again and start it back up, the sound does not come back on at all. Sweet!
Thanks again for the pointer, Simon. I found that particular startup feature to be pretty annoying, too.
Excellent! Thanks, Simon! I'll give 'er a try...
Hi Tom,
I found my own answer on the Loksound Yahoo list. As you will see this is not a trivial answer.
set the following CV's
130=0
133=0
136=0
139=0
148=0
151=0
190=4
193=4
The result of all this (and it works, I have just tried it) is to have the loco silent upon power application to the track. Press F8 with the loco stationary will run the sound start up sequence and settles to idle ready for running. Press F8 again and it goes through the shut down sequence to silent. Pressing F8 when running the train just turns on and off the sound.
It works like a charm, just how I wanted it to work.
I'll be looking forward to hearing an answer as well.
I have a PCM F3 consist with ESU Loksound decoders factory installed. When ever power is applied to the track these locos go through and automatic power up sequence with the sound coming on. Frankly, I find this annoying and want to disable this feature. I have looked at manuals until I am blue in the face, but can not seem to find what to adjust to disable this auto start up feature. Any one got any ideas?
Thanks
