With 44 feet of track - definitely you will need additional power feeders. You didn't mention what type of trains - HO? Lionel? Large Scale? If the length of wire to the track connection point isn't very long - 10-15 feet, for HO and smaller you can get away with some #18 wire, like speaker wire. For Lionel and larger trains you should probably use a bit heavier wire, like #16 or #14. If you have to run a long distnace from the power pack to the track points, 20 feet or more, in HO step up to the #16.

I am currently putting a train around my son's room. I purchased the track yesterday and the clerk told me I may need to run some extra power leads ( about every 10 ft) to make the train operate around the whole room. Is this true and if so how should it be done and with what type of wire?
