Good sounding non DCC sound, MRC maybe
Posted by climaxpwr on Thursday, November 6, 2008 5:49 PM

I have an old Alco models NYC 2-8-0.  I dont have DCC and the huge club I am in will never have DCC, layout is set up for cab control/CTC dispatched. I have seen on MRC's website they have a onboard sound board with wireless controler.  Is it a decent set up with a medium to heavy chuff and a nice whistle. Or is it still very rudimentary compared to what else is there.   I know the Soundtraxx tsumani is dual mode, but I doubt much is there in analog mode, Just chuff?  Anyway to trigger the whistle in analog?    My current home layout is Marklin, not planning to sell it off and go back to USA stuff at home just yet.  So it only really gets run at the local club on analog power.  I am looking to add constant lighting and sound of some kind.  Suggestions?????   Thanks in advance.  Mike

Quality aftermarket steam sound decoders (Tsunami and soon to be released QSI-U) do NOT have many features when run on DCC.

Did you mean "when run on DC"?
