Won't they run together if you simply couple them?  You shouldn't need any kind of tether.

For questions on O Scale you'll probably get a much faster answer on the Classic Toy Trains forum.

I would like know how to tether two powered locomotives...(GG1's) together. Any help would be appreciated. They are both 0-scale.
