This loco comes with DCC on board. Yes, the 45 ton, not talking about the 44 ton. Anyone have one? Wondering if this loco comes with an adapter for DC? Cannot find a diagram of the loco. Looked on the Bachmann site. So far, no one knows for sure on the Bachmann forums. Thanks.

Looking for speaker info for this loco and found this post. I know it's old but...
The instructions give jumper soldering info, if you remove the DCC board, which is made as part of the light board and has to be snapped off.
Interestingly, there is a provision for a speaker in the tiny area between the air(fuel?) tanks and the frame. There is even a round magnet inside to help the small hook hold the tank casting in place.
I was just wondering if anyone had put sound in one already and what speaker they used.
I have a couple of speakers from PCM E units and they look close.
I did find something in a couple other forums about this loco and they did put in sound but the speaker is quite small. They did not post photos. I think they used a Micro-Tsunami. It will have to be hard wired which is really not an issue. Just follow NMRA wiring standard for DCC.
One fellow put the speaker up inside the cab roof. The speaker can be a little larger.
I put a speaker and small baffle up inside a MDC Climax with re-geared drive.
Be advised a speaker near the track will pick up magnetic material. One fellow mentioned this issue.
The LokSound Micro is a possibility but the Micro-Tsunami has many options for optimizing sound than LokSound does.
Just considerate a challenge. I plan to do one of these this year sometime.
I have two 44 tonners with LokSound Micros's.
If you try this, remember to take photos as you proceed. Many forget to take photos when they have a challenging project like this.
The loco doesn't need an adapter to run on DC. One thing you have to do though it make sure CV29 is set up for DC operation. If it's used the previous owner may have turned it off.

I have some Bachmann that came with DCC on board and they run on DC with no changes to the decoder. I bought mine from a on line company. From a private seller or ebay, it might be a gamble. You might have to configure the decoder for DC like someone has said.
When you were at the Bachmann site, did you look at the decoder info? It is cleary posted. Many never think of looking for the documentation.
