Does the wire have the metal connector on the end or has the wire come out of the metal connector? Has the wire just out of the plug housing along with the metal connector still attached to it?

If the metal connector is still attached to the end of the wire you're in luck, if not and the wire has no metal connector on the end you will have to remove the connector from the housing to reattach it to the wire first before it can be reinserted into the housing.

If the metal connector is still attached, it can be reinserted into the housing easily. There will be a small catch on the metal the catches inside the housing once it is inserted. The tab needs to be lifted ever so slightly to help it catch again once reinserted in the housing.

Question about reconnecting a wire to plug
Posted by Omaha53 on Wednesday, August 6, 2008 12:37 PM

I have one of the last 4-8-4s that Rivarossi produced. It is a good locomotive but now I have a problem. In the wiring harness that runs from the locomotive to the tender there are 3 wires. One of those wires has come out of the plug. When you look at the plug from on top it is about 3/16" square. On top there are 3 little slits that correspond to the 3 wires.

On this type of plug are the wires forced down into the slits somehow? If so, what do you use to put the wire back in place?
