I'm having trouble programming non directional lighting with my Zephyr for the DZ125. I want the reverse light to be turned on with the F4 button, while the F0 button controls the front headlight, so I can keep the front light on while the engine is reversing.
I tried changing the CV61 to 01, but it doesn't seem to work. I tried on both the programming track in PAGE mode as well as the mainline in OPS mode. I'm new to DCC so any tips are appreciated. Thanks,
Nick
On Digitrax decoders, I set CV49 (front light) to 104 and CV50 (rear light) to 120. That makes both headlights be on all the time when F0 is pressed, but the headlight opposite the direction of travel is dimmed...so when going forward, the front headlight is on full, but the rear is at about half power. That way I get a positive indication that I've set the engine to go the right direction before I give it power to move, but both headlights are still on like the real trains.
I can't remember the numbers, but I'm sure you can set CV49 and 50 so the light is on bright all the time. The only time I did something like you describe was an E unit where one F button controlled the lower headlight, and another F button controlled the upper 'mars light' headlight...but I think that was a TCS decoder, which are generally much easy to program.
