Programming MRC Synchro Sound AD750?
Posted by Rotorranch on Monday, May 26, 2008 2:39 PM

I have an MRC Synchro Sound (AD750) system I'm trying to play around with. I'm having difficulties programming it. I fooled with it about 2 hours last night, and got it to work one time. I don't seem to be able to get it to take an address.

I have a Digitrax DB100 and DT200 throttle, the old "Big Boy" set.

Any suggestions on resetting the MRC unit?

Here's a link to the MRC web site Synchro Sound instructions.

Thanks cacole, but I have that sheet in the box. It's a a 4 page, counting front and back cover, boooklet about 3x4in in size. Not much info there. Confused [%-)]

When I power on the Digitrax, the MRC unit powers up with idle sound. But I can't seem to access the AD750 to re-address it. I got it to to work one time, but when I tried to reassign the addy, I lost it again.

Someone brought one of those things to the club a couple of years ago and wanted to try it out.  I fiddled around with it for about 30 minutes but couldn't get it to do anything other than a horrible sounding horn and out-of-sync diesel rumble.  The only address I could get it to work on was 3.

It seemed to be a little oversized and cumbersome to use as a paperweight, which is the only thing I would ever consider using it for.  On-board sound decoders have made this thing technologically obsolete.

I got it to work one time on addy 14, when I programmed a loco to that address. I might have left it there, but that loco already has sound on board! Banged Head [banghead] I tried it with a non sound loco, and couldn't get it to work. I've tried addy's 1-30 to get it to respond...nothing.

Oh well...I'm about to go to the train room and fool with it some more.

I don't know...I fooled with it last night, and never got it working. One time, the idle sound stopped, then came back on with the bell. Confused [%-)] Another time, the horn came on. Banged Head [banghead]

Anyone know how to reset the thing?

Did ou notice where it says it must be programmed on a programming track?  This seems to indicate to me that every time you want to run a different locomotive you must disconnect the sound system, move it to a location where it can be connected to your programming track, reprogram its address, and then move it back to the location where you want to use it.

Tony's train Exchange earlier this year had a listing of reset codes for each MFG.   MRC was listed as CV125=1.  This should reset the decoder.

No, but I noticed it said "It is best to do all your loco and Synchro Sound 750 programming on a separate programming track."

I just figured that is so you don't reprogram your other locos. I've been programing on the main, both with and without a loco on the main. The one time it worked, there was a loco on the main, and it programmed to the addy I was putting in the loco. I tried that again, and it never responded.

That didn't seem to work either.

Rotorranch, Ive got a question for ya......

Will you ever buy another MRC decoder after your first experience?

David B

Not unless they make some major improvements.

Unfortunately, I bought the decoders and sound system several years ago, before there was much feedback on them. So far, the motor decoders seem work "OK", but the sound sucks. I really don't like the lack of programmable CV's.

Too bad I have 7 more brand new MRC decoders. Banged Head [banghead]
