Hi
Got it sorted now i swapped over the motor wires and it works just fine now, the light working when going forwards, now all it needs is a airbrushing in U.P. colours and decalling.

Hi Cacole,
Thanks for the information i'll try it later.
You have the LED wired correctly, so your decoder CV29 needs to be changed; however, if the locomotive is running in the correct direction you have the motor leads reversed and changing CV29 will straighten out the headlight but not the motor. If you don't want to go to the trouble of changing the motor wires, connect the headlight to the yellow wire, which is for the backup light.
Directional headlights are not prototypical at all, so I connect both white and yellow wires to the headlight if a loco has no backup light.
Hi All,
I have a life like N scale E7 i have fitted with a Digitrax DZ 143 decoder in and after testing it i find the the light i replaced with an LED only comes on when the loco is running in reverse i fitted the led postive leg to blue wire and the negative leg to the white wire with a resistor in line on the negative side.
To change this do i need to alter the wiring to the track pick ups or alter the CV 29 setting if s to what value.
