Is that from the whole layout?
I have more than that behind one of my (eventually) 12 panels.
Of course, most of that is because I simulate mechanical interlocking electrically, and has little or nothing to do with powering locomotives.
Since I (and my numerous old open-frame-motored pieces of motive power) are happy with analog DC, I expect that DCC will remain a mirage on my horizon while I plod along (at 70 scale KPH for freights and 90 scale KPH for passenger consists) using the MZL system, including the numerous terminal strips, the carefully cabled wire runs and the full book of documentation.
I hope your DCC system proves out to your complete satisfaction. With MZL analog DC, I'm already there.

Jerry,
Welcome to DCC and the dark side of it as a NCE PHP owner. Remember, the little black box will set you free from endlessly reading manuals.
From the picture it looks like you used a bunch telephone wire in you old wiring. If so, and if it is small gauge stranded wire, hold on to it, it can be useful when installing decoders and lights.
One other thing, now that you're rewiring, KISS principle applies.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
I see you got a salvaged bundle of it wrapped....before you gave up.
It should be easy to wire now. And you will love DCC. Have fun!
Well after holding out all these years, I'm going DCC, bought an NCE power-pro, and decoders galore. So in my madness I decided to totally re-wire my layout. This mess and more like it came out of the layout. Probably do some redesign of the layout too , before installing the DCC system.
Happy daze
