I finaly got the turn table up and running. Seemed fine, then I tried to program it. The next day all the memory was gone. I programed it again, and when I turned it off and on, it had lost all the stops. I run it off the AC from an old power pact. The voltage reads 16.7 when in use.
Any hints?
Art, I really wince when I read posts such as yours. I have had so few issues of the kind you have written about that I really feel badly for you when you get a highly reputed and rather expensive item that doesn't seem to want to work as intended.
About the only two things that I can think of are the following: you didn't get the initial zeroing right or the memory in the system is fried. Whatever the device is called that stores the index points is defective.
Are you absolutely sure you removed the two tape coverings, one on the optical eye in the pit wall and the blue covering for the hub contacts, in the well? Once the zeroing procedure is done, the turntable should store each indexed point as you assign them. My originals are still working quite nicely 14 months into its tenure.

The instruction sheet states 15 volts AC or DC at 500ma. 12 volts min and 19 volts max. The max volts is important. You read 16.7 volts running, are you going over 19 volts in idle mode. The early units did not like high voltage. Also check for dirt over the "eyes".
