Plug in the 2nd cab with the 4 wire connector (not the 6 connector that you use when it is the only cab). Reassign it a cab number and you are off to the races.

So will I be doubling the track amperage or still be working with the output of a single Power Cab?

You would only have the power output of one cab and not be doubling the amperage.

Huh!  That's a great idea, David.  I hadn't even considered that as a possibility. Thumbs Up [tup]

  Hi Sparky

You can use the additional Power cab as a pro cab useing the coiled cord plugged in with your Power cab. You have to change the address of the 2nd cab. Mount the other Power cab panel by your work bench and use it as a test/decoder setup unit with a short piece of track. Run your buss wires to the inside loop and when you finaly connect them it wont be an issue with power.

I think what I would do is run two jumper wires from your oval to your son's oval.  That makes the two ovals part of the same system even though they are not physically connected yet.  That way when you do get around to connecting them physically you won't have to change anything.

Then, use whatever connecting cable the Power Cab instructions tell you to use to make the Power Cab act like a regular cab "down at the club".  If you plug this into the proper location on the facia panel they give you, you can both operate together.  Let your son use the second Power Cab and he won't be able to change any of the system parameters.

Put the extra power supply they give you away as a spare.

Of course, this all assumes that the total power requirement of all the engines on both ovals is within the capability of the original power supply.  but then, if this is a problem, you will have that issue anyway when you physically connect the two systems.

NCE Power Cab, using two?

I have an existing layout and I'm curently using the NCE Power Cab.  I have a friend that plans to give me his Power Cab.  Smile [:)]  Yup, a GOOD friend...

Here's the question.  Can I use two Power Cabs on the same layout?  My sons oval runs inside mine.   Think of a large oval shaped donut.  A very large donut!!!  I have plans to connect the two tracks at some time in the furure.  Will I run into issues with two systems if I make them connect to make one large layout?  Or will it act like one system?
