I've added in a few H0 engines sound, even in an Kato NW2. These engines were without the plug.     Smile [:)]

Here can you see some pictures. And at my homepage you can find How To's.

Advice on DCC about...?  sfboy, you should create a whole new post so that your question can be answered separately.

Has anyone heard the sound for the SD40-2?  Because the soundtrax comes with the SD38-2 sounds installed. If the sound for the SD40-2 is very good I guess that I'll have to break down and get the software to install it.

   IHB Geek,

   Try www.aztectrains.com , they have SD-40/45 listed.

sound in KATO SD40-2 & SD38-2
Posted by IHB Geek on Friday, February 29, 2008 4:24 PM

Gentlemen,

I too am looking for DDC sound solutions for both Kato SD40-2s and SD38-2.

My question for all previous recommendations is:  are you guys talking about HO or N scale?

I'm specifically looking for N-Scale, if anyone can help out.

Thanks!

Since I liked the Loksound EMD 645 sound for the SD40-2, I installed it in a Kato "snoot" unit (an earlier version without the speaker holes in the fuel tank), managing to get the decoder into the nose, leaving the area above the rear truck to install the speakers (mini pair). Therefore, I was able to keep the weight in it.

David is right on with that one.  I have a KATO SD38-2 with the well for speaker in the fuel tankd and the Digitrax unit went in with no problems.  Otherwise, space is at a premium for speakers.
