   Rich,

You could use the powerpack to test dc engines before decoder install.

Rich,

Here's the NCE web site link:

http://www.ncedcc.com

You might want to download their Powerhouse Pro radio manaul from the site to get an idea what you'll need.

ANNNNNND...it looks like Larry and the gang JUST updated the site in the past 30 minutes with new info.  The USB module is NOW SHIPPING!  Woohoo!

The other problem you'll have using a power pack as your power source is that it can not produce the 5 amps needed by the system.  My friend tried doing something similar with his Digitrax system and couldn't understand why he was having problems.  If you've already decided to by a PHPr system, then don't get cheap on the power source.  You may save money now, but you'll regret it later.

Rich,

You are right.  Something does have to power the DCC system.  However, you don't use a DC transformer to do that.  DCC systems require specific power demands.  For the Powerhouse Pro 5-amp - radio or tethered - you'll need the P515 power transformer.

If you use something else that doesnt have the correct regulated voltage, you'll fry your components.  Spend the extra $20-$30 on the right power transformer.  You'll be happy you did.

Does anyone know of problems using an MRC 220 power pack with an NCE DCC Radio control system.  Any help with this would be appreciated.  Thank you.  Rich
