Anyone else have this problem?
I have a loco #3401. The Zephyr will not run it with that number assigned as a four digit address. The decoder will take it, and read it back, but will not run it.
The problem seems to be the Zephyr and the zeros. The Zephyr never would program four digit addresses that end in double zeros.
But strangely, it will program 4100 with CV29 as 2 for normal operation, but it will accept and not run 4100 with CV29 as 3 for reversed operation....which one loco requires because of crossed wires.
I've certainly not had any similar problem with my Z in the past 5 years or so with certain addresses not working.
The only idea that comes close to explain the problem is a CV29 issue. If it's a 4-digit number, CV29 should equal 38 (but 34 is better...it turns off analog mode). If you change the address to a 4-digit number but don't change CV29, then it won't work as that 4-digit number (factory default is CV29=06...which is a 2-digit mode). It will even read it as a 4-digit number, but it still won't work because you must change CV29.

cv29=02, 128 speed, analog off, f.d.o.t. 2 digit address
cv29=03, 128 speed, analog off, r.d.o.t. 2 digit address
cv29=34, 128 speed, analog off, f.d.o.t. 4 digit address
cv29=35, 128 speed, analog off, r.d.o.t. 4digit address
Thanks, gentlemen.
Oh boy, how did I miss this?
I've been glancing over this page for more than a year now.
I have too many flippin' tasks besides modelling HO, I guess. I'm gonna' give up that other stuff around the house like dishes and garbage and personal grooming and concentrate more.
