Oh, that's good.  I'm glad I was wrong on that one.  I'm also glad you tried the easy fix first!

Thanks guys, I reset the decoder as that seemed the lesser of two evils and it cured the problem.
In Lewiston Idaho,where they filmed Breakheart pass.

It sounds like a loose wire to me.  Take off the shell and re-check your connections.  Beware in particular of "cold solder joints."  Those are soldered connections where the solder didn't really melt all the way when you did it originally.  Sometimes you can tell these from the dull color.

I would reset the decoder back to factory defaults.  This fixes a multitude of issues.

I got a soundtrax decoder in a p1k deisel loco. The sound works but the loco doesn't run. I haven't run it in months and it was working when I put it up. Any suggestions?
