Digitrax Throttle Not Agreeing with Turnout Status
Posted by JPD on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 4:27 PM
I have now wired five control panels for turnouts without issue until the last sixth one. I am using Digitrax DCS210 command station, DT602D throttle, and DS64 Stationary decoders to control turnouts. When I press a button to change a turnout from closed to thrown, the panel light goes from green to yellow, press the button again and the turnout closes and the panel light goes from yellow to green. Great, working just like it is supposed to. However, for three of the six turnouts on this last panel, when I use the throttle to change the turnout the throttle says the turnout is closed when it is thrown and vice versa. I am mystified why this is happening. All the other turnouts on the five other panels work correctly with the throttle as do three of the six turnouts on this last panel. I cannot see anything that I did differently. Is there a way to configure turnout status on the DS64? Any clues and suggestions would be appreciated.

From the bottom of page 6.

Note: If you find that your turnout is operating “backwards” simply switch the + & - wire connections to achieve correct operation.

If that doesn't work let us know what you are using to move the turnout.

If I switch the positive and negative connections, then you are correct, the throttle now operates correctly. However, the push buttons on the panel are now wrong and so are the lights. The results from pushing buttons or using the throttle should be the same and are on my other panels and on half of the turnouts on the problematic panel.

I use Tortoise turnout machinves to move the points.

Tortoises are just contacts, so they are straight forward connections.  Move the wires from one set of pushbutton light combo to where the other set is.

Will that was an interesting lesson in humility. Lee 1234 you were right. I was just changing the polarity of the panel LEDs, not the polarity on the Tortoises. As soon as I did it on both the problem was solved. What amazes me, considering it is a 50/50 chance, is that I got it right on all the other turnouts on the five other panels! Thanks for the help.

Will forward to doing the next two panels for the yard, the most complex panels I have to do as I will be using routes.
