does the resistor for an LED get wired to the positive or negative lead on the LED?
The resistor can be on either side of the LED:

Either one is fine, Rich. However, I usually solder it to the common (+)/anode to be consistent from locomotive to locomotive.

either one will work, but to keep things consistent, I wire into the positive lead, the longer lead on the LED, going to the positive or blue wire ..
