Gary,

If "GOT IT!" means you snagged it then congratulations. Yes  Some folks didn't like the QSI sound decoders but I never had a problem with the few that I have and liked the sound and - especially - the motor-control.

If you did purchase it keep us posted how you like it.  If you didn't purchase it - keep looking, as one is bound to show up that will meet your needs.

The loco arrived today. NICELY detailed!

Haven't read directions yet but it's Very LOUD.  Excelent motor control, crawls through frogs at speed step 1.  Need to configure it.  This is my 1st QSI decoder so time to read.  What is the extra wheel and parts for?  I see the curtains but there is a wheel and shaft.

Gary,

Despite being a NYC modeler and fan...Nice looking switcher! YesStick out tongue

A few comments...

  1. Extra wheel(s) - If your 0-6-0 came with or w/o traction tires, the extra set of drivers is probably the swap out for the opposite.
  2. Volume - If you lift up on the water hatch on the tender there may be a manual master volume control knob (blue?) underneath.  [Edit: Sorry, I'm thinking of BLI]  For sure you should be able to adjust the master volume via your DCC throttle in either programming mode.
  3. The ins and outs - I would encourage you to download the QSI decoder manual.  It will have a lot more useful information (and then some!) than the one that came with your locomotive.

Wishing you many happy days ahead switching with your newest acquisition, Gary. Big Smile  I hope you are happy with your choice...
