Ok...so I need to find me one of these wheel gauges then, it sounds like. And, possibly take apart 3001 and check the connections.

BTW, 3001 DOESN'T have sound...that was from 4230 idling on another track while I ran 3001...

Thanks guys! I'm definitely loving having this forum to come to to answer my noob questions! Much appreciated!

Have you checked each truck for power?

I'll be running through the litany of tests and fixes this weekend. Haven't really had the opportunity yet this week.

I totally believe that Rich (Richrichhotrain) is correct, leading into the correct direction.

Bay Area Brad: Amtrak 404 (Walthers DC to DCC conversion) is fine at medium, but shows slight hesitation at slow speed (very slight in my mind).

BNSF 3001 (Bachmann DC to DCC conversion) is my problem child and shows not only hesitation at turnouts but at the crossing tracks regardless of the speed.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zj199UkT5Y0

Totally analyze this situation.

* Using NCE (DCC) system.

* The (1) Amtrak 404 (Walthers DC to DCC conversion) is fine at medium, but shows slight hesitation at slow speed.

* The (1) (Bachmann DC to DCC conversion) hesitates at turnouts and crossing switch tracks regardless of the speed.

* All other (DCC) locomotives have no problems.

Fact: (#1)

Only the (1) (Bachmann DC to DCC conversion) locomotive has major electrical problems. Many different electrical factors will determine what the problem is.

Question: (#1)

What version/model is your Bachmann diesel locomotive?

Fact: (#2)

Each different version/model of a diesel locomotive will also have a different version/model internal circuit board (light board).

Question: (#2)

What (DCC) manufacture and P/N decoder are you using?
