Electric wiring issue (sorry if there are multiple. Was searching and couldnt find any with my issues.)

Hello,

I bought a bachmann starter kit a few years ago and since last year I have added to it quit a bit.  I have a roundhouse yard and double track.  The problem I am having is I just received my Atlas controller and connector switches.  I started wiring up and if I hook up my turntable motor to the switch and then to the power supply it wont work but if I hook it up to the power supply directly it runs just fine but pulls power from the main line.  I know the Bachmann has the main connector hub and Atlas uses wire screws and connectors.  Any advice would be good.

The main problem is, that Bachmann power supply is too weak.  You need a totally separate AC power supply for the turntable because it is made to operate on AC power, not DC.

If you ever have any more questions about Bachmann products, feel free to join the Bachmann forums. There are company reps, DCC info, product diagrams, parts ordering page, etc. Take time to look all around the site.

There are forums for different scales though the reps do move messages if some post to the wrong forum which happens at times.

If new here, you can use Flicker or Photo Bucket to post pictures. Many times helps others to understand an issue.

No the switches are Atlas.  I purchased another power supply as the controller switch shows two power supplys.  What was throwing me off is the whole cab A and cab B (think I got it down now along with what common rail is).  I will be posting photos as soon as I get time of this week as I work night shift to help see what I'm trying to do.

It can operate on both AC or DC.  The power from the AC gets rectified to DC inside the unit.
