Atlas frog screw size
Posted by gondola1988 on Friday, September 9, 2011 6:54 AM

I'm looking for the screws for powering the frogs on Atlas # 6 turnouts, I think they are 1-72, I need about 100 of them and wanted to buy them in bulk if possible brass or steel will work. Any help would greatly helpful. Thanks Jim.

You can buy brass micro screws here in bulk at a reasonable cost:

I use 1-72 brass, that way I can solder a feeder wire on easily. It's harder to solder to steel. I run my screws up from the bottom so nothing sticks out the top.

If you want to go with an "all-Atlas" solution, you can order just the buss bars and the screws directly from Atlas.

I don't use screws to attach the wire to the buss bar - I solder that instead.  But IMHO, using the buss bars to bring the wiring out to the side of the turnout makes the whole process easier.

The screws are blackened to match the frogs, and after normal weathering and ballasting the brass buss bars are just about invisible, too.

Atlas part numbers are 200001 for the screws and 200002 for the bus bars.

I ordered them thru Micro Fasteners, 100 for about 6.00 and 4.00 for shipping. got the brass ones for ease of soldering.

By the way Rich thanks for the web site. I googled them and most places wanted between 20.00 - 30.00 for 100 plus shipping. Thanks again.
