software for simple throttle and block detecting
Posted by FrankV on Saturday, July 16, 2011 2:06 PM

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on a easy to use piece of software that I can use for:

1) Throttles to run multiple trains.

2) simple block detecting.

My dcc is Digitrax.

Thank for any help.

Regards,

Keep in mind that block detection is actually done by hardware.  What you do with that block detection may require software, but the detection itself is a hardware function.

JMRI. It's free. You will need an interface to connect your computer to your Digitrax system, either a Locobuffer-USB or PR3.

As STeve mentioned, you still need hardware to do block detection. With the appropriate hardware it can send detection messages to JMRI which can then act on it by displaying indications, operating turnouts connected to stationary decoders, or seting signals connected to signal driver boards.
