When I started back into the hobby I decided to go with a Digitrax system Super Empire Builder. It came with a 400 series hand held throtle and I have added a UT4. I was surprised that the system did not include a power supply. The 5 amp supply was an extra purchase ($50.00 extra). The last time I looked at the Digitrax web site there was no indication of this. But I love DCC and the capabilities.

Every page for the various sets states the following:
"There are many different power supplies that you can use to power your Digitrax system and you may already own an appropriate power supply so rather than force you to purchase a power supply you may not need, we leave that decision up to you and your dealer. Click here to learn about Digitrax power supplies that are available."

I was in the same position a couple of months ago. I did all the research on the systems, narrowed it down to NCE and Digitrax. After checking out a local shop that had both set up and running I bought the digitrax. I eventually wanted to go wireless and just went ahead and bought the wireless Digitrax set first. I don't have to upgrade later and it wasn't all that much more.
I will say that DCC is the way to go! Good luck, ultimately you have to decide what is best for you and your operation.
