What railroad used to be here?
Posted by Texas Zepher on Tuesday, April 17, 2007 6:38 PM

I've found an old railroad yard on the map that I would like to know what it used to be.   What I can tell from this is that there used to be a small yard with a wye on the east side.  To the west I've followed the old grade to Riverdale North Dakota.  So this would be Riverdale Junction.  Does anyone know what railroad, when was it abandon, when were the tracks taken up (looks fairly recent).

According to Terraserver, it used to be the Soo Line.

And you can follow it due west to some gravel pits by the river.

See that big thing blocking the flow of the Missouri River, that's why the railroad branch was built. Abandoned when no longer needed.
