ulrich models piggyback flatcar
Posted by bnonut on Thursday, March 29, 2007 5:25 AM

I own one Ulrich models 40' piggyback flatcar. It has a pedestal to support the trailer hitch. A Mini-Metals 32' trailer looks good on it.

What railroad used a car like this?

Thank You

I'm no expert, but the shortest flat I've seen with a trailer was a 50'. I think Ulrich did it because they had both the flatcar and the trailer. Originals intact are quite valuable in the HO world.

Is this the car? http://www.ulrichmodels.com/images/CarBOPiggyBack.jpg

I think the NKP had 40 ft pig flats with fishbelly sides. That pedestal is all wrong, though.

The DL&W also had 40 footers, but they had straight sides.
