The Burlington always purchased their own equipment from the Budd Comapny and wore natural Stainless Steel. The Burlington did purchase equipment from Pullman Standard, however, these cars ran in the Empire Builder and North Coast Limited. The only Budd cars that were owned by the Burlington and were painted were a dome coach and dome lounge Glacier view and were painted in the GN's Empire Builder scheme.

Nope.

To my knowledge, they have always remained stainless steel. The surviving examples still around are still wearing their natural metal finish with no signs of evr having worn any paint except for the "Burlington Route" logo.

Hi everyone,

Does anyone know if the shovelnose-led Zephyrs were ever painted, or were they always stainless steel?

Any help'd be much appreciated.
