Early CN yard switcher colors
Posted by decapodman on Saturday, November 8, 2003 4:52 AM
I have a P2K SW9 / 1200 switcher painted for CN in olive green and yellow, road # 1300 and maple leaf herald. As practically all pictures of early CN yard switchers show them in black and yellow I wonder if my engine has the correct colors. Also, from which period might this paint job be? Can anyone advise?

You might try the CN sig group. Their website is cnlines.com

I model the CPR so I can't answer your question.

Good Luck....Ken

I can't tell you much about the paint scheme, but according to one site, 1300 was retired in 1994.

Hey Decapodman, I found a picture of a CN yard switcher in green and yellow :

SO I guess these switchers were not only painted black and yellow.

1300 was built in 1958. The Green paint scheme was replaced by the black and red in the early 60's, but switchers would probably not have ben repainted until it was necessary.
I think that even before the black and yellow, CN used a spectacular black and orange.
