Somewhere in the recesses of my memory is the notion that some of the Bower engines have doghouses. Check their catalog -- indeed I advise anyone to get their catalog as they have a lot of stuff that is NOT included in Walthers' catalog, such as the Selley and Cal Scale lines of parts, the Cary metal engine bodies, and the many Bowser engines and kits.

Drawings and photos of tender doghouses are included in the "MODEL RAILROADER Cyclopedia, Volume 1: Steam Locomotives," available from Kalmbach at the "Shopping" section of this Web site. For some non-PRR examples, see the Midland Valley 2-8-2. plan 35, the Frisco "Russian" 2-10-0, plan 30, and the N&W Class A 2-6-6-4, plan 115.
So long,
Andy

There is a detail associates (Or precision scale) doghouse availible. Theoratically any steam engine can have doghouses. Some doghouses even had a heating coil to keep the poor brakie warm.
I dont think they were used much. Perhaps the brakie enjoyed the company of the engine crew at times.

I model a period during which the front brakeman would have had a doghouse on my steam engine tenders. I haven't been able to either find good photos of prototypical doghouses nor have I found a supplier for them (in case I decide to go the easy route).
Any suggestions?
Have a good one!
