C&O flatcar load
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, July 1, 2006 11:22 PM
Hi all,

I'm wondering, what would be a good load for a 50' C&O flatcar in the mid-50s?
Especially on an appalachian layout.

Thanks
Alvie

A canvas-colored blob of no particular shape, edges tied down to the stake pockets. Faded logo and company name, or no lettering at all, well weathered with road grime and locomotive exhaust residue.

What's under that tarp? Beats me.

All good suggestions given. How about a load of lumber, or even better, mine timbers?

Or, as mentioned, machinery?

Or maybe something a bit more out-of-the-ordinary?

And just because it's a C&O flatcar, it doesn't necessarily have to be going to a destination served directly by the C&O.

Thanks Jim, I'll be happy to show more, although I'm not sure if I've got much more in the way of flatcar loads. Anything in particular, or just a random selection? I don't want to highjack this thread.[:)][:)]

Here are a few more photos of my layout, with any necessary apologies to Alvie.

Edit: I'm including a "link" to a thread in another forum, which is itself a number of "links" to various photos of my layout. I am also removing most of the pictures in this post out of consideration for the thread starter.

Hope you enjoy these shots, Jim, and my thanks to all for allowing me to show them.
