Hello Ericsp and James
Thank you very much this will go long way to help me build one in 1/8 scale
Hmmm so what i see here on Stracks site is locomotive is 70' 8/2 inchs coupler end to coupler end and only 66' 71/2 inchs with no couplers correct?
also the bolsters-measurments front end sheet to front bolster is that to the centerline where the truck kingpin is?
then the end sheets? that is what the coupler box MU hoses and plow are mounted to then if so then i think i got most of what i need to get started anyway then all i need are the smaller dimensions i.e door opening walkway to top of loco air intake vent the engine access doors and so on etc.
thank you both so very much you been very helpful to me on this
Larry

Eric;
That was The Contemporary Diesel Spotter's Guide, from Kalmbach. It shows all of the Dash 2's as being on 68' 10" frames. However, the T-2's are actually about 2' longer. If you look at Strack's site (the one you provided the link to), they actually share the 70' 8" frame of the SDP45 and the SD45X.

Here is a list of articles.

One word of caution, there is a book (I do not remember which one) that incorrectly states that the SD40T-2 is the same lenght as the SD40-2. Do not use any measurements from this book.
While there are not drawings, here is a list of SD40T-2 dimensions.
