How to model CORX tank cars
Posted by kdunlap2006 on Monday, June 5, 2006 3:46 PM
My fellow modelers:

How do I model the tank cars owned by Coors Brewing Co. (CORX)? Are there any ways to paint over an undecorated model and decal it? Finally, how many cars did Coors own and what were the car numbers?

TIA,

Hello Kelly,

Maybe this link will help....you'll have to look these cars up further, to get the detail amount you want. I think Micro-scale decals makes CORX decals, you might want to check there web page.

There are undecorated models of tankcars out there.

If you want an accurate model, your biggest problem is that none of the models bears a close resemblance to these cars. They so appear to be Union Tankcar Company built, which is what Walthers makes models of. However they, surprisingly, appear to not be of the funnel flow design. They also have hemispherical (or close to it) ends, unlike Walthers' cars. The box up to would have to be scratch built, not to mention the appliances on the bottom. It might be just a easy to scratch built the entire cars.

If you just want a slight resemblance, buy a Walthers undecorated 54' Funnel-flow tank car, build the box up top; then paint and decal the car.

Paint it white then throw it in a mud puddle!
