Should be a passenger engine, yes. Rock Island freight diesels in the fifties came in a red/black paint scheme.

bought a athearn F7A- F7B yesterday. One of the boys kept buggin me and would let it go til we got him his own unit. one question since it is red silver and maroon is it a passanger unit correct?!
