ATSF 4-8-4 number 2926

During my years in the military and being stationed in Texas, trips to the coast to visit my family in California took me past the displayed 3759 in Kingman. I do have a lot of pics of that engine which brought me to the questions I had about whether the Bachmann version is correct.

The trainboard link from egmurphy had a good photo of the 2921 taken by Harold K Vollrath. I googled his name and found his entire photo collection, including some good ones of the 2912, the 2921, and 3751. The link also pointed me to the "bach man" message board which led me to the Bowser ugrade for the Bachman 4-8-4 version of the 2900 series, which Bachmann incorrectly numbered 3781 by the way. I found a lot of answers to the questions I have had about that locomotive series.

(By the by, for fans of the Northeastern RRs, Harold K Vollrath has a huge photo collection of the Pennsy and NYC and B&O and others.)

You need to bookmark www.steamlocomotive.com , it's a wealth of info on locomotives, including a surviving steam loco database that you can sort by location, type, railroad, etc. Here's a link to their database sorted to show ATSF locos.

A number of 2900 class 4-8-4's are listed, including 2921 (Modesto, CA), 2925 (Sacramento, CA), 2912 (Pueblo, CO), 2913 (Madison, IA), 2903 (Union, IL), in addition to your 2926.

ATSF 3759, 4-8-4, is presently on display in Kingman, AZ. The loco is in good cosmetic condition (well painted, external parts in place) and is located in a public park with good access for photography and measurement. It is not operable, and would require major rebuilding and the replacement of all cab fittings (at least) to make it operable. No one has suggested that this will be done.

A quick Google of "ATSF 3759" gave me more photo links than I can link conveniently.

[8D] And good wintery day to you, from Nebraska. I am looking for any good photos of the ATSF 4-8-4 2900 series of locomotives. I understand that the 2926 is the only one that still has wheels and is being restored in New Mexico. Thank you very much for any help. [:)]
