There are several books available on NP history, and a very good three-book set on NP steam and diesel locomotives that covers all their loco's.

Greetings all,

I am trying to track down information on an old Steamer.
It is NP #1661.
it was a Class W-1 2-8-2.

I would like to find out as much about it as possible, service history, final resting place, photo's, etc...
I have found little about it out there.
I am planning on modeling the sugar beet area of eastern Montana and was told that it once worked there.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I could obtain all this info?

I appreciate every bit of help I can get!

Photos of #1661 are available, but you have to get them from the photo owner James Frederickson: jimfrednpvet@juno.com.

Right and left hand photos of #1661 were taken at Glendive, Montana in 1953. Photo ID's are:, JMF00792.0 (left hand view), JMF00793.0 (right hand view).

Check availability here;

Hope this helps.

Andre

It's really kind of hard to support your local hobby shop when the nearest hobby shop that's worth the name is a 150 mile roundtrip.
