Try these books:

Railroads of the Pine Tree State, Vol. 1

Railroads of the Pine Tree State, Vol. 2

Maine Central in Color

You can find them at:

It's really kind of hard to support your local hobby shop when the nearest hobby shop that's worth the name is a 150 mile roundtrip.

One quick thing, the book is in black and white, but does explain the color schemes on the different units. But again, I'm not sure that you can still buy it.

More info on the book ... I purchased it at Zeb's General Store, Main St. N. Conway Village, NH, their phone # is 603-356-9294, or at least it was.

Well, that depends on what era you are looking to model. I have a book that details all of the diesels that the MEC used, rosters, pictures, etc. up to the Guilford era. Unfortunately, I don't believe that the book is still in print , but it is quite complete. The title is Maine Central Diesel Locomotives, Revised Edition, compiled by Edwin B. Robertson. Copyright 1978, Revised edition printed in 1988.
