Omaha train stations

Having grown up in Omaha, I distinctly remember that there were two major passenger stations located south of downtown near the banks of the Missouri River. A number of major rail lines crossed the Missouri River into Omaha heading west with Union Station on the north side of the tracks and the Burlington Station on the south side. I am interested in any information available regarding these two stations, and specifically why the Burlington built their own station instead of using the Union Station. Does anyone know of historical websites or books about these two stations?
