SP Caboose Frog-eye color on the lights
Posted by nordholm on Thursday, January 12, 2006 3:35 PM
Hi
Does any one know on what side the red / green light was placed in the frog-eye marker light used on Southern Pacific caboose?
Thanks

Green faced forward (direction of travel) and the red faced the rear.

It's really kind of hard to support your local hobby shop when the nearest hobby shop that's worth the name is a 150 mile roundtrip.

Scratch the above. As you seem to already know, the green and red were next to one another. The red to the rear would be illuminated when running and the green to the front. When in the clear in a siding the red to the rear would be changed to green. As to which color went to which side I don't know but, lacking hard data, a good guess would be green to the right and red to the left (as in air and sea navigation lights)

Thanks for correcting me.
