B&M help
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, December 8, 2005 4:09 PM
Hi all. I'm new to this site so I'm hoping someone can give me some insight or suggestions. I'm in the early process of planning a new layout based on the B&M in the late 50's to early 60's. I'd like to donate some space to the operations through Ayer, Mass. I'm hoping some of you might have some old photos or thoughts. I'm working with a space that is approximately 8' by 11' in HO scale.

hobrink try this website out for prototype info www.rr-fallenflags.org also you might want to try the b&m historicaal society listed on the mr homepage for more information and/or join the society, my girlfriend lives in that area and her grandfather and uncle both worked for the b&m i'll try to get her to come on here and hopefully give some more information.

hope this helps

I don't have a lot of information on Ayer in the 1960's, or rather during the transition era, but I am familiar with operations there, at least to an extent. Are you familiar with Ayer at all? I wouldn't mind some ideas as well as I am going to model the area around Ayer, but at the start of the Guilford era 1986-1990. I do have numerous photos from that time. I can try to help if you have some more specific questions.

to JL Thanks for the reply. Yes I am somewhat familiar. I live right next door in Groton and have spent a few enjoyable hours railfanning there. In fact I usually go out of my way to take at least a ride by.
I'm interested in what industries were switched ther during that time. Also I know a branch left there that went up thru Groton, Townsend and Pepperall. I have somewhere a time table of the trains that go through there today but would love to find a schedule of those that went through there during that time.
