The reason UP skipped 3985 is becuase that is the number of their excursion challenger. Many of the former AC4400 were numbered in the 6300's which forced the renumbering of UP's SD60Ms to the 2400's. Also, many of the former SP AC4400 are still in origional SP paint without patches. These are used in designated coal service so they are only taken out when absolutely needed, not just to apply patches.

bwilcox the SP SD70Ms are in the 3974/3999 series. For some reason the UP skipped over the number 3985. [:D]
