I was looking through some old magazines for some other information and came across a plan that brought your request to mind. It's in the November 1986 Mainline Modeler. The plan, with several photographs, is for a C&O single stall wooden engine house. While the building was constructed in 1929, one of the photos includes a GP-9, so it would be suitable for either the steam or diesel era. The plan shows the structure to be 150' long, although its design would allow you to shorten it quite a bit without losing its appeal. The photos show two versions with board and batten siding: the style of the doors, the design of the ventilators, and the window types vary. There is a third version shown with drop siding and a third, totally different, style of windows. If you don't have this issue, I believe back issues are available.

Thanks for the tip.
I found the article and a couple of others.
Also found the first Model Railroader I ever bought [:)] May 1959. I was just about to turn nine.

MR did an article on a Reding enginehgouse at Gordon PA in the 50's. I believe it was around 57 or 58 that is perfect for what you want. Also do some research on the Buffalo Creek and Gauley which is also a good source.

Steam locomotive maintenance/service building
Posted by eridani on Sunday, November 27, 2005 8:03 AM
Can anyone point me to plans that would help me scratch build a single track steam locomotive maintenance/service buidling. In the real world this building was located on a service spur in a remote, forested location while the main service location was at a major terminal a day away. So it was made of wood.
None of the commercially available models in N Scale fit what I need.
thanks
