What year was it built ?

My layout is a loose prototype of the Santa Fe set in Northern New Mexico into Colorado. The time is set in the 50's. Two questions! Which F Series loco's were built in this period? Secondly Did any other railroad use these tracks such as UP or SP. Thanking you in advance for your answers.

Harold,

Here's a handy site that should at least answer your first question:

http://www.thedieselshop.us

In particular:

http://community-1.webtv.net/ajkristopans/FREIGHTCABUNITS

There are several pages so make sure you scroll to the bottom for the link to the next page. Hope that helps...

Time...It marches on...without ever turning around to see if anyone is even keeping in step.

Here's a site you may want to bookmark -- it's a very accurate list of all the diesels Santa Fe ran, with the numbers and years of service: http://rosters.gcrossett.com/atsf/

Or an easy answer, the F9 was built from '54, and all the other old style Fs were in service then. (Not F40s...)
