Diesel engines, what year?
Posted by electrolove on Sunday, May 8, 2005 4:18 AM
I wonder if there is a webpage somewhere that tells me in a simple way what year different diesel engines was introduced? The only thing I need is the name of the engine and the year.

For example Alco S2, 19??

You can pick up a lo of into at The Diesel Shop at: http://www.thedieselshop.us/ but it won;t be as explicit as you are asking. The book would be better in that regard. At a quick glance at their railroad lists, They have the Alco S-2 being delivered in 1942, but that is to individual railroads.

Get the book for a better reference. I have it.

Try here:
http://www.urbaneagle.com/data/RRdieselchrono.html
I have saved a copy of this to my hard drive and laptop. Can't personally verify the accuracy, but it sure looks right!

Good Luck, Morpar
