Vist the above website. Lots of D&H information. The webmaster (last I knew) was John Shaw who lives here in the Kansas City area. He knows all kinds of stuff about the D&H. spend some time on the website. Hope it helps.

You might check if there are any local historical societies. They sometimes post pictures.

I did some more searches as suggested be still nothing as far as what I wanted. I will have to get my hands on the book mentioned,as well as "Where did the tracks go?" ,which is by the same author.

The NEB&W site has a LOT of data on D&H freight equipment and train op data. According to them, the largest fleet of D&H hoppers from 1907 to 1949 were the wood Seleys (64% of their fleet in 1949). I'd go with either them or the D&H's oddball high-sided gondolas. Both types of cars are available as resin kits from F&C.

I'm also interested in the Chateaugay Branch, though in an earlier era. There isn't a wealth of photos available specific to this branch, especially from the early 1900's, which is all I've collected.

At its peak, the line ran as far as Lake Placid but the far end was abandoned in the 1940's, leaving service only as far as Lyon Mountain & Standi***o serve the mine & furnace. The mine closed in the late 1960s & trains were occasionally run up to the mines for salvage operations. I'm not familiar with the traffic after that. Perhaps it still served the prison in Dannemora for a while?

Michael Kurdish has a book "Railroads of the Adirondacks" which as I recall has a few photos of the branch, though I'm not sure if there are any of the later years. The only "modern" photo I have is a scan showing the last dump truck being shipped on an Erie flat car in the late 60's.

A good D&H site is http://www.bridge-line.org/ You may find some info there or contact info to find more info. There are also a couple of D&H groups on Yahoo, though I've had little luck with my Chateaugay Branch info requests there, likely because of my time period interest.

I'm doing the initial research for a section of a layout based on the mine & furnace at Lyon Mountain. I've found few photos showing railroad equipment serving the mines & those I've found are very hard to see. I'm particularly interested in learning what type of ore cars used here ca. 1917.

You're in luck, on two counts. First, the NEB&W club layout is based in part on the D&H, and includes some areas around Lake Chateaugay. Their website (a pay site, but WELL worth the $5 a month!) does have some "hard" historical data on the D&H, the region, and the branch. Second, the D&H is a VERY popular road, and there's lots of info online. Google "Delaware & Hudson RR", "Chateaugay", or "D&H chateaugay" and you'll see what I mean.

Does any one know of a website that contains prototype pictures of the Delaware and Hudson Railway`s Chateaugay Branch? I need pictures from the 1960`s to when the line was ripped up to aid my modeling of this branch.
