Shuttle Train Loadout Elevator
Posted by tomnoy3 on Sunday, April 3, 2005 11:11 PM
Im trying to scratch build a fairly small shuttle train elevator, 750,000bu. It will probably have 4 100' x 22' concrete silos, but Im wondering if anyone knew where I could get detailed pictures of the grain leg or load out chutes. Ive already browsed through all of BNSF's directory photos but none of those are close-ups. Thanks for the help.

I work at a large elevator, here are some rough ideas.A concrete silo 27 feet in diameter by 110 feet tall will roughly hold 50,000 bushels.A modern covered hopper holds3,700 bushels.Sometimes elevator legs are in a silo along with the manlift, pipes and conduit.

It would probably be easiest to do it that way, with the elevator in the silos, but I like the looks of the criss-crosses of the leg tower. Thanks for the information though.

Go to <www.grainbeltsupply.com>. They have a PDF file with pictures and dimensional drawings.
