Bill,
Possible starting points are Maptech's collection of historical USGS quadrangle maps:
http://historical.maptech.com/index.cfm
and Terraserver's maps and satellite photography:
http://www.terraserver.com
Hope this helps.

Bill

I do not have any details on Searsport, but the line to the port runs along Rt 1A from Prospect tword Stocton Springs. One scene you may want to model is a bridge crossing a stream just north of the Thibodeau Construction yard (which is just outside Prospect). The road crosses a valley over a stream. The the railroad parallels this a couple hundred feet away and crosses on a steel bridge like the Micro Engineering "Tall Steel Viaduct". I always thought this was a nice scene to model. It used to be more visible when I was young, but is now partially hidden by trees.

I do not know where in Maine you are located, but you might consider a road trip to the area. If you want to see the bridge, April is a good time - after the snow but before the leaves on the trees.

In the book "BANGOR and AROOSTOOK The Maine Railroad by Jerry Angier and Herb Cleaves, published by FLYING YANKEE ENTERPRISES ISBN 0-9615574-3-5 softbound and ISBN 0-9615574-2-7 hardbound. The book has a copy of the Searsport track plan. There is also a good overhead picture as well as some other pictures. If you can not locate this book I could send you photocopies for the mailing and copying costs. This is 274 pages of the Bangor and Aroostook from their beginning through the mid 80s. It is mostly B & W but is does have several pages of color as well as rosters and track plans of their "major" facilities.

I found the book on Amazon.com but it was $57.00,
a little to much for me. I'll check the library for it .

thanks everyone for the tips and what book to look into

I stumbled on the intermodel layout at Mack Point...

BTW Mack Point is the modern name for the Searspoint yard.
